Jul 23, 2016 1:17 PM in response to SoCalSkippyby cgreer2,This worked, I can't believe it. I tried everything else and it had sat for hours in front of an AC vent as well as a hair dryer. My iPhone 6 got creek water in it and I thought the headphone jack was permanently messed up. I tried sucking on it but it didn't work, so I took a tip from someone else in this thread and used my shop vac. It cured it almost instantly, within a few seconds. Just put the attachment over the headphone jack and turned on the vac. Thank you!!!!!

Jul 29, 2016 7:46 PM in response to SoCalSkippyby Lino Diaz,This is a common issue with iPhones, as it's happened when I had my 4S, 5S and now my 6+. In all instances, I used the same fix. To get a better understanding, if you look at your headphones or headphones with mic, you'll notice 2-3 divisions in the plug. This corresponds with the 3 connections in the jack. Shine a flashlight in the jack, and you'll notice 3 tiny steel balls. These steel balls are spring loaded and align with the three divisions in the plug. On occasion, most likely caused by dust or dirt, one of the balls gets stuck in, confusing the iPhone into thinking a headphone plug is plugged in. Now that you understand how it works and how it fails, you have to get the problem ball unstuck. Grab a cotton swab, dip in rubbing alcohol, spin it tight and out between your fingers, and stick it in the jack while spinning it. This will clean out any dirt stuck in the jack. Now grab a plastic head tack, and stick it in the jack. Press it against the side with the steel balls at an angle. You should feel the three steel balls with the point of the tack. The problem ball, should feel like a hole, because it's stuck in the in position. Pay particular attention to that hole. Pull out while maintaining pressure at an angle against the side of the jack. Check your volume button. If you still see Headphone on the display, repeat the procedure until you see Ringer. Problem should be resolved.

Aug 16, 2016 3:13 PM in response to willgil8by sradwanphoto,I'm so gobsmacked at the help that worked through such a simple technique, I had to create an account in order to reply to say thank you! I tried everything from a "Techie" minded point of view, yet dismissed something so simple, and the sucking worked! I had Soundcloud playing and as I started to suck I could heard it crackle through, so I continued and it is now working fine Many thanks!

Aug 23, 2016 8:19 PM in response to SoCalSkippyby richthakid,EFFICIENT:
Use a que tip. First, rip off most of the cotton leaving just enough to fit into the headphones socket. Stick it in there, twirl it around and out comes some type of residue (mine was black). I started to notice as I pulled it out and pushed it back in gently (but repetitively) that my Spotify icon started appearing on and off, on and off the bottom left corner of the screen. If it dissapears when you pull the que tip out completely then it is fixed.

Aug 23, 2016 11:06 PM in response to bigdallaby NYstateOfMind95,MAnnnnn I had to make an account to thank you for this. The funny thing I tried it and it didn't work the first time. I resorted to using q tips which did nothin more than clean out the jack. Then finally I tried ur method one last time and it worked!!! The satisfaction was beyond incredible because it was really infuriating me. Thank you so much!
