Q: Turn off smart lists in "notes" not working

Hey everyone,

I searched the forums but couldn't find an answer to this - I am unable to turn off the smart lists in the notes app. This feature is just plain annoying, you can't even write a date (european style like 12. juli 2016) without it being turned into a list.

I found an option for Smart Lists in the menu, but that is greyed out (see image).

Am I missing something here? I'd be grateful for any hints!

Greetings, christine

What do you mean by smart lists? Are you talking about "checklists" or something else? Can you post a screenshot of what such a list looks like?

Hey Luis, thanks for your reply, I am sorry if I wasn't clear in my original question. What I mean is, when you type a number followed by a dot and space, numbers turns this automatically into a numbered list like this

    1. Juli 2016
    2. xyz

instead of letting me write this (inline, no format change etc.)

    1. Juli 2016

I believe that this functionality is what is referred to as "smart lists" in the "edit -> substitutions" menu, but as you can see in the screenshot above, this is greyed out for some unknown reason... I don't know if there is a global setting for this? I checked the "keyboard / text " settings in the system preferences but couldn't find anything there either.

Ok, I see what you mean. I had not had this experience, probably just because I had not typed anything similar.

I feel your pain... it is something 'microsoft-word-esque'. I can't find a way to change this.

I heard it may have been fixed in a certain mountain-range os...

Haha yeah that is exactly what it feels like

In the meantime lets just hope for a change in autumn... in any case, thank you for your reply!

    Cheers, Christine
