Q: Newest iMac that uses an HDMI port

I'm looking to buy a new computer (Preferably an iMac) and I want to connect my apple TV up to it, but I can't figure out what iMac's have HDMI ports that support the Apple TV, and those who don't. Please help me to find the newest iMac that has an HDMI port that supports the Apple TV. Thank you.

None of the newest iMacs have HDMI ports, they have Thunderbolt ports, which can be converted to HDMI by using an adapter. However, there is really nothing you can do by connecting an Apple TV to a Mac via HDMI.

The Apple TV outputs video, and the ports on the Macs are also outputs, not inputs.

What exactly are you thinking you can accomplish by doing this?

As Phil says, you do not connect a computer to Apple TV using an HDMI port. You connect Apple TV to a TV set using its HDMI port. You connect the computer to Apple TV over the network using AirPlay or Home Sharing. Any current Mac model can do this.

Apple TV and Apple Computers work independently of one another. Outside of home sharing and Air Play (which works with iOS, not OS X) they do not have the ability to operate in conjunction with one another.

That's incorrect, AirPlay also works with OSX and in fact home sharing ONLY works with OSX.

Since I do not have a tv in my room I was thinking that I could just buy an iMac and connect the Apple TV that is in my living room up the the computer that is compatible with it so I could use it on there. Also, there are no older macs either that could hook up to the Apple TV? Thank you for your time.

No. No Mac can be connected to an Apple Tv that way, and there is no point really.

The Apple Tv is designed to make it easy to access Web based content on a TV without a computer, but all this  content can already be accessed on a Mac directly without an Apple TV.

iTunes can be accessed through the iTunes Application. Netflix as well as most other providers like HBO can be used via their website.

You can use the Apple Tv remote to control playback directly on the Mac if required.

Beyond that I think it would be cheaper to buy a smaller TV for your room you can connect the Apple TV to.
