Q: Import Imovie projects from backedup time machine

Hi,

I used time machin to backup my files in two different external hard drive in two different dates(end of june and July 10th) on my Imac2006.

Then I wiped the leopard and installed the fresh OS and updated to lion 10.7.5

When I restored my files through migration assistant, I accidently migrated from the first external hard drive which has been backedup in end of june.

So I noticed that I missed some of my imovie projects which I 've done it later and backed up in to the second external hard drive.

How can I find those imovie projects from the second ext hdd  and how can import/restore it?

(Note: I also assummed that I've done some updates in some imovie projects and backed it up to the second ext hdd)

Also is there any other ways to redo migration just for imovie projects and keep other files as is?

Thanks

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

    Hi dead-patill,

I understand that you tried to restore your files from Time Machine, but ended up missing some of your iMovie projects. I know it's important to have control over your data, so I'm happy to provide some direction to help.

With the hard drive connected that contains the files you are looking for, you can use Time Machine to restore files specific to iMovie, or anywhere else on your computer. You can see more about how to do that here:

Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support

Restore from a Time Machine backup

    Restore specific files:

    1. Choose Enter Time Machine from the Time Machine menu Time Machine icon, or click Time Machine in the Dock.
    2. Find the files to restore:

      • Use the timeline on the edge of the screen to see the files in your Time Machine backup as they were at that date and time. The timeline may also include local snapshots.
      •
      • Use the onscreen up and down arrows to jump to the last time the contents of the window changed. You can also use the search field in a window to find a file, then move through time while focused on changes to that file.
      •
      • Select a file and press Space Bar to preview the file and make sure it's the one you want.
    3. Click Restore to restore the selected file, or Control-click the file for other options.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities, cheers!
