live in a condo and we share wifi. Recently my Apple TV will not connect to the network ( the network newly shows up labeled with DHCP ) I assumed it was due to my Mac Pro being serviced at Apple. I have read a LOT since this has happened about the evils of DHCP type networks and Apple TV. I was overwhelmed with all the scenarios similar to mine- but unlike mine other APTV users reported the this has been a problem for many years -and mine literally just started during the time that my computer absent.  I learned that programs such as Bonjour running on your computer on your home network tend to make stuff "work" when normally it might not. HOWEVER the computer has returned .. alas same poopped out response from APTV " cannot connect to the iTunes Store " .. And YES IT says it's connected to my network ( shared condo ) and the signal is very strong -in fact - all of those details are identical -IE they are the same as always, except now the APTV no longer fun time at all.  [fyi currently I have a Mac Pro iphone 6plus - formerly I had an airport extreme among other things none of which influenced the performance of my APTV.

What can I do ? Is it an easy fix - or fix at all. I would love to be able to stream- but most urgent is just being able to use the AirPlay feature - the device seems to only attempt to connect to the iTunes stores (and then must have an Internet connection) it says "cannot connect to the iTunes store at this time " . This is all it will do,nothing more. I have tried to reset/restore many times -it occurred only once - all other attempts " cannot connect to the server " after the one time reset/restore it seemed like it would work then it prompted me for my Apple TV and ( waaahhhhhaahhhh) "cannot connect to server ". The TV is the 3rd generation .. -oh refuses to play nice with Bluetooth devices - recognizes but will not check mark then drops the device.

Most often I use the APTV's airplay feature when using my phone to enhance the size of the screen to share information with others in the room and to fascinate editing ( both photos and documents ).

You are confusing yourself by reading irrelevant stuff. Your Mac has nothing to do with the Apple TV connecting to the network and DHCP is common and normal in network situations.

Shared wifi in condo's can be an issue for the Apple TV because of unusual restrictions that the administrator might apply to them, I suggest you go and explain your situation to the network administrator for your condo.
