Q: My waterproof Shuttle has died

Perhaps it wasn't as waterproof as advertised. Did it come with a warranty from the supplier?

I was not aware that there is a waterproof shuffle, was it a regular shuffle in a waterproof (so they say) case ?

contact the manufacturer of the product.

Looks like there are third-parties that "waterproof" a regular shuffle and then resell it, which would void Apple's warranty.

Apple does have a "waterproof" shuttle.  It's not in a case.  Like I noted, I've had no problems swimming with it since I got it.  It's just died on me.

First I have heard of a waterproof shuffle from Apple, can you provide a link to the product information page please.
