It is much easier to just get an external USB drive. I would recommend contacting OWC (www.macsales.com), because they specialize in Macs they sell many that are all Mac compatible. They can help steer you to one that most closely fits your needs. You can call or do an online chat with them if you would like.

Because your computer is so old (two years older than mine) I would HIGHLY recommend staying away from replacing your internal hard drive and just going with an external one. As rkaufmann87 suggested, OWC a good place to go; however don't feel like it is the only place. I have two Seagates (one backup, one storage) that I got from Amazon and they have been fantastic and easy on the pocket.

Just make sure you format the hard drive before using it.
