Q: Data consolidation

The data associated with the 50+ songs I've programmed into MS (2.1.3) is apparently stored in various locations in my computer. Some samples live in Logic application support, some in the MS concert folder. Other kinds of data: patches, channel strips etc. live in various folders, seemingly all over the place.

When I try to consolidate all data into the concert folder using "save all, include assets," I'd expect to be able to easily copy the concert to a second, similar MBP which I use as a backup machine at gigs. When I do it now, some sample data (audio files) fail to be included.

If this is possible, I'd be interested to hire someone in the L.A. /Pasadena area to help me accomplish this, unless I can be coached here in the forum.

Thanks for your help!

I'm using the latest MainStage 3.2.4 version and the latest OSX version 10.11.6. No problem with consolidation and copy to another mac. With the exception of some Alchemy samples ???.. It seems that some of them are with every save saved with another number. So the copy version has always 'older' numbers so can't find the right (latest) ones....

Otherwise you can check by right clicking on the MainStage file and choose open package content what's in and also what's missing.

i also use MS on 2 macbook pros .. one as a backup in a redundant system that if the main one fails , I can switch quickly to the backup system .

I usually program a MainStage concert ( version 3.2.4 on OS X El Capitain ) on my main system , I then consolidate all the data that is possible to consolidate ( staying in the MainStage / Logic environment ) and copy the resulting concert on the backup MBP without any problems .

All my Logic / MainStage sound libraries ( the ones that comes standard when you purchase the programs ) reside on my internal SSD . I have 3rd party samples for the EXS24 on an external disk and when I consolidate , everything is bundled into the concert .

You can control click ( or function click .. not sure ) on the icon of the concert and you'll be able to see all the data that has been consolidated .

Within the EXS browser , once the concert consolidated, you'll see the .exs instruments in the dropdown menu that are bundled as well in the resulting concert .

Maybe it's your version of MainStage that is the problem ?

I've been avoiding updating/upgrading the MS software for fear of losing any of the work I've invested over 7 years. Did you transition to MS3 from an older version? Will all the synth patches carry over?

Many thanks for your time to reply.

I Did upgrade to the latest version of MS from version 2

i first went to ver 3.0.4 on Maverick and then went to 3.2.4 on El Capitain .

all the concerts translated well . Again , I mostly use the instruments and plug ins from the Logic / Mainstage ecosystem except for some virtual instruments from Applied Acoustic systems and Moddart .

When I updated , I still kept ver 2 . I think it happened automatically because of the name change from Mainstage 2.x to 3.x .

do a time machine backup before in case .

remember that if you open a concert in MS 3.2.4 and save it , you won't be able to open that concert in MS ver 2.x

if you have 2 computers with MS installed , I think it worth while to at least give it a shot on one of them to see .
