It may help to unpair and re-pair your watch.
The Watch app on your iPhone takes a backup of your watch when unpairing via the app. Choose to Restore from Backup when offered the option during set up. Most data and settings will be restored, with some exceptions (eg Apple Pay cards, passcode).

Jul 21, 2016 6:01 AM in response to Thresher100by Jonathan UK,When charging your watch, check that:
- All plastic wrap has been removed from both ends and both sides of the charging cable (check closely on the head of the charger).
- The back of your watch and the head of the charging cable are clean and dry (clean them with a nonabrasive, lint-free cloth).
- The charging head is properly aligned with the back of the watch, with the concave / curved side touching it fully:
- Some watch docks, stands, cases or protectors might hinder this.
- If possible, test by using another genuine Apple Magnetic Charging Cable (for example, by borrowing one from a friend).
- If you are charging your watch by plugging the cable into mains power:
- Check that the USB connector on the Apple Magnetic Charging Cable is pushed fully into the USB Power Adapter.
- Check that the USB Power Adapter is pushed fully into the power outlet.
- Try using different adapters from the following:
- The Apple USB Power Adapter that was supplied with the watch, or;
- An Apple 5W (iPhone) or 12W (iPad) USB Power Adapter, or;
- An Apple-certified (MFi) third-party 5W USB power adapter.
- Try using a different power outlet (one that is known to be working properly).
- If no other suitable power adapters are available, try instead charging by plugging the cable into a USB port.
- If charging via a USB port on a computer, ensure that you use a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port, the computer remains turned on and awake and the cable is plugged directly into the computer (not into, for example, an external keyboard).
If you identify an issue with a particular component (adapter, cable or watch) or if the issue otherwise persists (after having also tried unpairing and re-pairing your watch), contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available) or make a Genius Bar reservation with a view to having your product(s) checked (under warranty, if eligible):
- Contact - Official Apple Support
- https://twitter.com/applesupport
- http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/
To check your warranty status (the serial number is on the back of your watch):

Jul 21, 2016 6:49 PM in response to Jonathan UKby Thresher100,Thanks for your suggestion.
I tried your suggestion, but didn't work. I un-paired and paired the watch again. It's showing 100% charged, the charging symbol is showing. However, it continues to wake up, show the Nightstand mode, then switch to the clock face, then it dings and shuts off. It works fine in other regards, but this was really annoying.
I've put it on mute, but that only keeps the dinging from being annoying. It doesn't solve the problem.
Oddly, it only seems to do this when I am in the vicinity of the watch. I've watched it from across a room for a while and I didn't see it do this. It's on a nightstand next to me, but not touching the bed or in other ways in contact with me. Is there some sort of proximity detector that could be waking it up? I don't know why it would be so regular about waking up when I am near it, but it's not out of the realm of possibility that something I'm doing, I suppose.

Jul 21, 2016 6:55 PM in response to Thresher100by ChrisJ4203,I witnessed this once with my Apple Watch, but I have one of the accessories to insert the charger in and hold it up. I was confused as I expect you are too, and in the end, it came down to making sure the charger face was clean and the back of the watch (charging area) was clean. After I wiped both down with a clean, dry microfiber cloth, it never happened again. I believe the two get a little out of line as they move a little, and this can also explain how your getting near it can change, as the movement of your feet on the floor can possibly jar the watch and charger.
