Q: MacBook early 2016 USB-C to HDMI not mirroring
I own a MBP from 2010 which I use a thunderbolt to HDMI to my 50" Samsung 4K TV and it works perfectly.
I bought a 12" MacBook for £1300 last week and figured I would be able to do the same. I am fully aware it is a USB-C limited computer but that isn't an issue for me. I already have all the bits and bobs such as USB-C > USB, USB-C card reader and USB-C to HDMI.
Now I have a multimedia device that has USB-C to USB and USB-C to HDMI and USB-C to USB-C all on it and this is what I am using to try get HDMI on my Samsung.
Now, I plug in the device into the USB-C port on my MacBook and then plug the MacBook's USB-C charger into the USB-C port in the multimedia device and then plug in the HDMI cable into the device and into my TV.
Now usually the TV and laptop flicker and it loads. I understand it was the first time connecting so assumed I would need to setup the typical things such as mirroring, sound output etc.
Here is where I am discovering no matter what I do, my MacBook isn't mirroring to my TV what so ever. The MacBook and TV are powering together and recognising that they are connected. (MB shows Samsung in display and my TV shows HDMI 2 connected and disappears when I disconnect it from the MB.
I tick Mirroring and it flickers, my MB screen resolution goes massive so everything is tiny yet nothing comes up on the TV.
I have tried everything and it won't mirror to my TV. Both devices are connected and powering together recognising they're connected but yet my TV is still showing "No Signal". I've tried different HDMI ports and cables but no luck. Changing refresh rate and dimensions but nothing.
Anyone got any suggestions? I have restarted my MB to see if that helped but no luck.
