Try these steps:
- On your iPhone in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > General > Wrist Detection - check that this is turned on.
- If Passcode is enabled, check that you are unlocking your watch each day after placing it on your wrist.
- Check that you are wearing your watch sufficiently snugly on your wrist (a loose fitting band can cause the watch to believe that it has been removed from your wrist).
If those suggestions do not help, next try these steps, which have resolved similar issues for some other users:
- On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > Privacy > Motion & Fitness - turn Fitness Tracking off (or turn it on, if it is currently turned off).
- Restart both devices by turning both off together, then restarting your iPhone first:
- To turn your iPhone off: press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears; drag it to turn off. To restart, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button.
- To turn your watch off: press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider; drag it to turn off. To turn it back on: press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.
- If you turned Fitness Tracking off in step 1, now return to the setting and re-enable it.
