Q: I can't find download files in my Mac. Why?

I use 13 inch MacBook Pro, but I'm not faimliar with Mac OS. Last two days ago, I removed the download folder from the Dock accenditally. After that, I cannot find my downloading files from my mail ever. I'd like to know how can I fix it? Software for my Mac is OS X 10.8.5.

Click the Finder icon -the leftmost- in the Dock at the bottom.

When the Finder window opens, click the Downloads folder to open it.

All downloads should be listed there.

You can rightclick the "Downloads" folder in the sidebar and select "Add to Dock"

to place the folder in the Dock again.

    Best.

I have the same problem, but when I right-click on the Downloads folder in Finder, "Add to Dock" isn't one of the options.  Now what?

The option appears when clicking the Downloads folder in the sidebar in Finder.

If you are clicking the actual folder in the window the option is not there.

You can drag the folder to the dock on the right side near the trash icon and drop it there to add it to the dock.

First of all, I read another reply and dragged the icon, so my Downloads folder is back in the Dock -- so that's good.   :-)  HOWEVER...my Downloads folder isn't in the sidebar -- it's always been in my Home folder.  When I right-click on it, there's no "Add to Dock" option.  Here's a screen shot of what I see:

No "Add to Dock" option that I can see...  Am I not looking in the right place?  Would it do it if it were in the sidebar?

As I said, the "Add to Dock"  option only appears from the sidebar. Not from within the Finder window.

You can drag any folder onto the Sidebar if you want it there. Drag it there and you should see a blue line where it will be placed.

    Release it there.

Once on the SideBar the "Add to Dock" option should appear in the menu.
