Q: photo Albums and Apple TV

Seems like things have changed big time.   I use to be able to run slide shows of my albums on Apple TV but I now notice that is not possible.  I only see iCloud with the enormous photo stream and only the shared album.   Is there no way to select other albums in my collection?

Nothing has changed, but you might be looking in the wrong place. Photos via home sharing is available from the Computers app.

With the Apple TV 4 you can now also see your albums via iCloud photo library and the Photos app, but your albums mustn't be nested in folders.

I have home sharing turn on in iTunes and have folders selected.  Home sharing is also turned on for my Apple TV.  When I go into computer I no longer see photos on the Apple TV.  Only music, videos and pods.   Both my iMac and Apple TV are on the same home network.

Yes, I have iCloud sharing albums as well but I have large folders which I do not want to put into the cloud just for viewing on my Apple TV.  So that is not an option.

Something has changed or iTunes is not properly sharing my photo albums.

Go to iTunes > File > Homesharing > Choose Photos and check that the correct source is selected in the drop down menu and that you have chosen some photos.

If this is all correct, make a small change and click “Apply”, check on your Apple TV to see if the photos have re-appeared.

If this helps you may wish to reverse the small change you made and click “Apply” again.

Funny that is exactly what I did.  Just unchecked all the folders and rechecked and gee...the photos now appear on the Apple TV.   Guess some of the iTunes updates corrupted the sharing settings but I am now back.

Thanks for ensuring I wasn't totally crazy :-).
