Q: Inherited a Mac with OS 10.5.. how to bring it up to date?
Hey everybody,
I recently got a Mac desktop from my Aunt, which is great. The only thing is, is that she has not updated it in years. It is currently using OS 10.5. I need to find a way to run all the updates to bring it up to date. I have my own MacBook that is totally up to date, and I know that there are a lot of updates to run in order to do this. Can anybody point me in the right direction in terms of bringing this up to date/ let me know if this is possible? I tried to do this myself but I have had zero luck.. I keep downloading Mac OS 10.6, but when I open the file it tells me that the computer needs Mac OS 10.6 to run the update.. Weird.
Any help is appreciated, of course.
Thank you!

What you are download is an upgrade
You need to go to http://www.apple.com/shop/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard and purchase the DVD from Apple to upgrade to Snow Leopard.
