Q: Why my post was removed?

Hi and thanks for reading.

A few days ago Apple announced a watchOS update as publicly released.

This was followed by the same info from a lot of media on the internet.

As I was not able to do the update I posted a question on the Apple Community and got some replies from other users with advices.

I was surprised to receive yesterday a mail from Apple which was informing me about the removal of my post as that update was still in Beta and my post was infringing Community Terms and Conditions... As a honest user that was a bit frustrating...

Any idea of this event please?

Many Thanks.

a mail from Apple which was informing me about the removal of my post as that update was still in Beta

That's the reason. Beta software is not discussed here.

No, Beta means unfinished and likely to change. There public betas and there are private betas. Typically people install betas because they want to help test the product prior to release. But betas are always risky, and often prone to problems. So, if you don't want that, don't install betas.

Tnxs, that is what I was aware of until I got the msg from Apple. That is why I am confused now.

Here my question: as far as I know, Betas are not available just by going to General Settings\Software Update... is this correct?

The update I am talking about is available to users by going to General Settings\Software Update as it is final. So it should not be a Beta... am I missing something?

Given that it is beta season it is possible your original thread was reported and then acted on in error.

Are you referring to watchOS 2.2.2? That was released on July 18th (don't know the exact time).

If you asked your question before it was publicly released, then the post was removed because it had NOT been publicly released. If you signed up to receive beta releases, then yes, a new beta release would be available to you in your settings and/or whatever way Apple distributes the beta to testers (I do not have an iWatch, so I don't know how they do it). If you are involved in the public beta program(s), you agreed to an NDA when you signed up which spells out that it is confidential and can't be discussed anywhere - therefore, the ToU here do not allow us to discuss confidential info. Generally, all posts mentioning 'beta' questions/problems are removed.

If you asked it after it was publicly released, then the hosts might have made a mistake (which does happen occasionally).

...and what I am supposed to do to seek clarifications as the mail I got from Apple was sent from a send-only account and I am supposed to pay to contact support?

Exactly. I did not mention it as otherwise I expect they removed again the post...

Yes, as explained in the present post, it was publicly released on the 18th July. that is why Apple reply does not make sense to me.

Negative, I posted it after the public release.

The only official answer to my question about the fact I cannot see the update on my Watch was yesterday from an Apple Store: they told me that sometimes users need to wait a month before receiving the update. If 2 months pass, then I may start wondering why... however I always got updates after maximum 2 days...

This is by and large a user to user support forum. If you want to double check with the hosts there is a contact address given in the terms of use linked to at the bottom of the page. As I say, my guess is that it was an over earnest report, followed by a perhaps less than critical appraisal. Such things happen. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
