Q: 2007 MacBook Pro 3.1 internal superdrive not working
I have a 2007 MacBook Pro 3.1 which was running super slow. I recently upgraded the RAM to 6GB (maximum allowed), swapped the internal HD to an SSD, and also replaced the internal superdrive, which had stopped working. I did a clean install of El Capitan after everything was swapped out. Everything seems to be working fine except for the internal superdrive. When I put a CD in, it started spinning for a bit but then it just went silent, and I can't even eject the disc. I tried both the F12 key and the manual eject button on top right of keyboard. I thought maybe I didn't connect the cable correctly, but the fact it took the disc and started spinning, indicates the connection is fine. Every time I restart the computer or wake from sleep, I can hear the drive spinning, but it will stop after about a minute. I do not see any image of a CD mounted on desktop. I also do not see the CDs & DVDs icon under System Preferences. I'm wondering if I'm missing a driver or an extension for a CD/DVD drive. Do I have a defective superdrive or is this a software issue?

Sounds like a bad drive or the Superdrive Cable
