Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. I know having an issue with CarPlay with your iPhone is not what you expect. If I understand correctly, you are unable to use your iPhone with CarPlay, even though your wife’s iPhone is working with the same stereo. Good news is that helps narrow this down, and use these steps to resolve this issue:If CarPlay doesn't work like you expect, here’s what you can check. After each step, try using CarPlay again.
- Make sure that Siri is turned on.
- Restart your iPhone and your car. Depending on your car, you might see the CarPlay Home screen when you turn it on. If you don't, look for the CarPlay logo on your car’s display.
- If possible, connect your iPhone to a different USB port in your car.
- Try a different Lightning to USB cable. Make sure the cable is certified.
Set up CarPlay to use with your iPhone
Cheers!

I finally figured it out! I had to go in the settings to General - Restrictions - allow Carplay. It took awhile to figure out. I hope if others have an issue they will find this helpful.
Thanks again for the assist.
