Q: Anyone else's internet shutting down randomly?

I'm starting to suspect that the problem has to do with the latest OSX upgrade since, if I go to system preferences and click on network, then ethernet, the internet connection becomes active, again.  Pretty weird.

Mac mini, OS X El Capitan (10.11)

Yes, my husband and I have both been experiencing "rolling internet blackouts" since we installed El Capitan, his on a macbook, mine on an iMac. None of the "fixes" I have read online have resolved this issue, and my pages load as slow as dial up if they load at all.  Macs used to be so user-friendly, but the idea that I have to fix this issue myself when Apple clearly manufactured a flawed operating system flies in the face of that. If you need to be an IT tech to use a Mac now, then I've obviously got the wrong machine.

Hawkified, I'll explain my particularly embarrassing problem: check your wires.  I was bumping a connection and it kept knocking it out.

If you really have a problem with your connection being slow, I would recommend that you post a new discussion asking for help.  I agree that it is cheesy on Apple's part but the folks in this community are awful helpful.

A few pointers on asking the question.  Answer these in your original post.  Do you both use a single browser?  If so, which one?   If not, explain which you use.  Have you called tech support from the phone company?  Mine is somewhat useful, especially if it is there problem.

Just one suggestion of my own: You don't happen to have a PC you can plug in?  That would definitely separate some apples and oranges.  Or, actually, an older Mac without El Capitan?  Anyways, just another way around isolating the problem.  It's not very useful for many people.
