Q: Share operation failed. Final Cut Pro X

Final Cut ProX v 10.2.3 Mac Book Pro 2.8 Ghz, 16GB iOS Yosemite 500 GB

I would like to export a 23 min video as MPEG-4 movie built from a series of still images and mp3 track. Output 1920x1080, 25fps. 3.56 GB est. Format as 'Computer'. Video Codec H.264. Images and track are on external hard drive and movie being saved to internal hard drive.

Each time I try the Share operation fails. The time for the failure to occur can vary but usually occurs when at least 50% of the operation has been completed.

"The share operation has failed

Video rendering error: 10008"

The error message may also refer to the compressor which I don't have installed

I have tried

saving to the external hard drive, to a DVD drive

changing the output settings of the movie, e.g. format as video and audio

used Disk Warrior to remove any permission conflicts or file/folder errors

clicking on 'Prevent App Nap' in Get Info window

resetting preferences to default

Any suggestions would be much appreciated

How much free space on each drive?

Try exporting just a small section oc the video by marking an In and an Out point in the timeline. Does it export?

Thanks for the reply. I have 14GB free on the internal and several hundred on the external. Without doing an In and Out, I got a different message:

"The operation could not be completed because an error occurred when creating frame 26605 ((Error 10008f, 00:17:44:05 <<(Error 10106f, indef)>>))."

I deleted this frame and re-inserted the image and got another error referring to the same image but different frame

The operation could not be completed because an error occurred when creating frame 26588 ((Error 10008f, 00:17:43:13 <<(Error 10106f, indef)>>)).

I will try an In and Out before this frame to see if I am successful. Not sure how to do an In and Out but will google it. Thanks!

14GB free space on the internal drive is not enough. The OS needs free space on the startup drive for swapping, virtual memory, and more. (Usually it is recommended to have at least 10-15% free on any startup drive; performance of an almost full drive also declines).

You should clear some space; also, exporting to the external drive instead of the internal may alleviate the problem.

There may also be problem with that particular image. How big is it? Is it any different from the other images you are using?

To mark an in point, just press the letter I; for an out, press O. (note: to deselect everything, press option-X)

You will see a selection; even though the selection only encompasses material in the primary storyline, all the content from In to Out will be exported.

Excellent, thanks. Very helpful. However, I never got to that point since I continued to get the specific frame error "The operation could not be completed because an error occurred when creating frame 26605 ((Error 10008f, 00:17:44:05 <<(Error 10106f, indef)>>))" even after removing and re-inserting the frame. In the end, I removed the frame, deleted the image from Final Cut Pro, uploaded the image again and re-inserted the frame. That solved the issue.
