Q: Hard Drive Space?

Ok so originally I had a 10.6.8 partition and a 10.8.4 (actually it's 10.9.5 but still says 10.8.4) partition. I decided to delete the 10.6.8 to free up the space for Mavericks. The problem is it only says I have 4 GB left on my 10.8.4 hard drive but this can't be the case since I resized the partition to take up the full 1 TB hard drive. In the "Get Info" section it still reads that the partition was the original formatted size around 144GB. What to do?

That link's instructions didn't work so I'm doing the terminal command. Says it will take about an hour...

Ok this didn't work. Terminal didn't either. Capacity still reads 144 GB.

See the original screenshots. In Disk Utility the partition clearly shows size: 999.21 GB. It also says this in the last screen shot I posted under "capacity". However, notice how it says in the other two screenshots that my capacity is only 144 GB. I'm trying to reindex spotlight again but it didn't work the first time. I should have 855 GB of free space but I'm not able to use it!

Download EasyFind and use it identify the missing space, post back. Include PackageContents and Hidden files (there are checkboxes for this)

Ok I've never used the app before. How do I get it to "identify the missing space"?

It will identify everything on your drive, anything that is not there, is not there.

But at least you will know what is using your space. It takes a while so start soon.

Nothing is "taking up the space." It's as if the space doesn't actually exist.
