Are any other BT sending devices within range with BT ON?

Were the speakers previously paired to other BT sending devices?

If yes the speaker may be pairing with the other devices.

If that is not the case:

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

    - Reset the BT speakers

    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

    - Restore from backup. See:

    iOS: How to back up

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204184

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

If still problem and the speakers do work with another device, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
