Q: Saving Photos to Albums

I'm trying to sort and save photos to albums and not sure if I skip or miss a few.  Is there a way in "photo mode" to click on a photo and determine if it is in an album?

    no

You can make a smart album (file menu ==> new smart album) for album is not any to show all photos not in any album

and there is a user scrip to show what albums a photo is in - How to find out the albums a photo is in: Jacques Rioux's script

What are you trying to do, when you say "Save to album"?  You can add photos to albums, but that does not save them.  Photos are stored in the Photos library, and all photos in the library will show in the Moments. If you delete a photo from the moments, it will be removed from all albums as well.

It is not essential to have all photos in an album. Albums are meant to group your photos for special purposes, thematically, so you can find them easier. A photo needs only to be in a moment.

Thank you for replying ~ Poor choice of wording on my part.  I've been working on a large landscaping project over several months.  I created an album where I'm adding photos I've taken during the project so I will be able to see all photos in one place.  My questions is:  When I'm looking through all photos and I come across one from the project I'm not sure if I added to the album ~ is there a way to tell if that photo is in the album without going to the album and checking?

The script Larry mentioned will do that.

But I would use keywords in addition to albums.

You could assign the keyword "Landscaping" or whatever you call your projrct to all photos in our album.

Simply select all of them at once, open the Info panel and type Landscaping" into the keyword part of the Inf panel. Now you can use a smart album instead of a standard album.

Create it with "File: New Smart album".

Add a rule "keyword is Landscaping"

When you browse your photos, keep the Info panel open. When you select any photo you can see immediately, if it has the Landscaping keyword and is in your smart album. To add missing photos, assign them the keyword.

I find keywords very convenient for such tasks, because it is easy to search for them.
