Q: Text messages not coming through

We have recently purchased an iMac. Shortly after people were texting me and without me knowing these were going straight to the mac in form of an iMessage. I do not use iMessage on my iPhone 6 plus as my wife uses it on her phone. I have gone onto preferences on iMessage on the iMac and i have unchecked my number from the list. The problem now is that I am not getting text messages at all. They are not coming through onto the mac as i have turned iMessage off and they are still not coming through to my phone. Please can anyone help me with this??? Many Thanks in advance.

What happens if you go to Settings > Messages > iMessage > turn OFF and then check Text Message Forwarding and make sure all is OFF? Have you tried that? Also below make sure Send as SMS is ON.

Supposedly turning off iMessage on the devices should stop this nonsense, but it doesn't always work.

NOTE: It is not clear if your wife is using your account (your Apple ID) - if that is the case you can't fix this. iMessage will always go to an active device if you have one online. iOS devices will prefer that over standard SMS/ MMS.
