Q: Is quick time still being supported by Apple?

I deleted Apple Quick Time based on an alert I received from my anti-virus program (Trend Pro) which stated that it was reported that Apple is no longer supporting Quick Time and this would present security vulnerabilities.  I visited a site recently and it wasn't working for me.  I was told that I needed Quick Time.  I related to them what I had heard.  They say they are standing by their statements that there is nothing wrong with Apple Quick Time.  What are the facts?

Apple still supports the Mac OS X version of QuickTime, but not the Windows one.

The Windows version of QuickTime is no longer being developed and had a known, bad security flaw in it. All Windows users were advised to remove QuickTime from their systems. That I am aware of, QuickTime in OS X is still fine.

As far as being developed for Mac users, QuickTime for Mac hasn't changed since version 7.6.6. And that was a long time ago.

But that's the older version 7 for users who need that. The version supplied with each version of OS X is a new version, still be actively developed.
