Q: Safari Bookmarks from Backup Disk to New Installation

Had HDD failure. Fortunately Had just copied HDD to external HDD prior to failure. New install of Safari on new HDD. How do I get the bookmarks and favorites from the old disk backup on external drive to the new Safari installation on the new HDD?

iMac (27-inch Mid 2010), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

How did you copy the data to the external? You want to copy back the User/Home folder Library/Safari, but how you access that depends on how you copied it. If it is a Time Machine backup, go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library/Safari. Enter Time Machine and restore that folder.

If the external is bootable, boot off of it, do the above, and then copy the folder to the internal drives User Library.
