It is a diagnostic tool that's very useful to us in finding problems. Also it will give us further specs on your Mac. After it runs post the log file here. It will contain no personal information.

and if your hardware passes boot into safe mode

remove any 3rd party utility as per the developers directions, this includes but is far from limited to:
Mac Keeper, Clean My Mac, Little Snitch, etc.
also remove any Mac Anti-Virus commercial or otherwise, these titles have been cited numerous times in the forums for causing problems. again, remove as per the developers directions, simply dragging these utilities or AV titles into the garbage rarely uninstalls them.
test the stability of your system and check ventilation. Your computer should not be used in a warm/hot room, in direct sunlight, crowded by other devices or under a kitty cat who wikes it 'cus its all warmz
if the system is still getting hot despite meeting these criteria you need to find if you are running an application that is sustaining a lot of CPU time through the Activity Monitor
Use Activity Monitor on your Mac - Apple Support
if that is not the case you can
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support
if problems persist after that you may post an etrecheck report for further analysis
