Q: How to change registration info in Mavericks

I am doing a clean install of Mavericks on an old iMac. It is asking for registration info and it won't allow me to bypass the screen. I am setting this up for someone who's contact info I do not have at this time. I would like to put in something and then change it at a later time. Is there a way to change the registration information? Is this used for the apple id? it doesn't mention anything about it.

thanks for the help,

john

Follow the procedure under item 5 in What to do before selling or giving away your Mac - Apple Support

"After you reformat your hard drive and reinstall OS X, the computer restarts to a Welcome screen and asks you to choose a country or region. If you want to leave the Mac in an out-of-box state, don't continue with the setup of your system. Instead, press Command-Q to shut down the Mac. When the new owner turns on the Mac, the Setup Assistant will guide them through the setup process."

thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I have to continue past the registration screen to install some software. This is a system for a friend of a friend whose contact info I don't know. I can't get in touch with my friend so I wanted to enter some junk and then go back to it later.

    thanks again,

I'm not going to ask if that's licensed software or not. But you can send him the software later or put it on a USB stick or something. It's best to give him as clean a system as possible.
