Q: iPad requires re-activation (orig.owner) with unknown iCloud address.

The msg states that I am to use an icloud email address that is unknown to me.   (i.e., x*****@icloud.com)  All my apple devices including the iPad are found under my main iCloud account but when I use that account as the account name it is rejected as the wrong AppleID.  How can I fix this? Very frustrating,

iPad Mini, iOS 9.3.2

Did you purchase this device used/second hand? If so, then the original owner did not remove the device from their iCloud account. You are going to need to contact the original owner, or you are not going to be able to activate the device. No one can help you, and there is no way to bypass Activation Lock.

Thanks for you prompt reply.  I purchase it new and have used it continuously for over 2 years. I just don't understand why it is listed as one of my devices on my account but that is not the account that am to use to unlock it.

If you purchased it new and were the only one to have activated it, then take a copy of the original receipt to your nearest Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service provider and request assistance.
