edit: FCP 10.1.4 was the last version to run on Mavericks. Unless you archived a copy, there is no way to get it from the Mac App Store.

Aug 1, 2016 7:24 AM in response to caheroldby Luis Sequeira1,It is usually not a good idea to upgrade mid-project.
I suggest you complete the project in the version of FCP X you are using, and then consider to upgrade.
Check your hardware for compatibility before you upgrade. Also, have a full backup, or better still, install EC and the latest FCP X (currently 10.2.3) on a separate drive or partition so you see for yourself how it performs in your mac.
FWIW, the features in 10.2.* are well worth the upgrade, but some require a beefier GPU, which older macs lack.
Keep in mind that Sierra will be coming in the Fall, so even if you are not planning to upgrade just yet, it is a good idea to "buy" (it's free) El Capitan now. This way, you will be able to download it in the future. Otherwise, once Sierra is launched, you won't be able to obtain El Capitan from Apple.
(You can download older versions of the OS only if you had them, or at least have selected to download them, in the past).
