Q: How much editing is possible in iBooks?

I have a very straightforward novel I want to publish to iBooks.  My question is can I export my novel to iBooks and then add to it or change things or must I edit in my Pages document and then RE-EXPORT to iBooks author?  Also, how do I get a page number on EACH page because now the pages are on every second page.

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

There is no problem editing in iBA as long as you keep the .iba file for your book.  Some people lose or discard it after exporting to the .ibooks file sent to Apple, and then they have to recreate their book if they want to change anything, because iBA cannot reopen .ibooks format.

It sounds like you do the actual authoring in Pages and then import those files into iBA. Of course this doesn't impede you at all as long as you stay w/i the parameters of the Chapter or Section import scheme. Ditto for Word.

This inspires a thought: wouldn't it be cool if your Pages or Word documents were linked to an iBA project such that any change to the linked document would automagically be reflected in the iBA project.

This is not a new idea. Apple and Microsoft both dabbled in this area with OpenDoc in the 90s.
