Q: Apple iPod Hi Fi and Dock Cover

Hey everyone....I have an Ipod HiFi and I love it

there’s one thing that annoys me about it....the dock connector that’s pretty much useless because it won’t charge any device since the 2nd gen touch. I want it mostly for internet radio.

Does anyone know if anybody makes universal ipod dock "caps" that simply cover the 30pin dock with a white cover so you can’t see it anymore? That way i could just use the 3.5 and still have the elegance of the design.

Otherwise

I would buy an older ipod touch but I need some type of adapter so that the charging will work. I have seen some solutions that are big and bulky and im not interested in those. If there’s something flush and seamless im all ears.

I have searched the internet for both of these but i have come up empty handed. I figured id reach out the community.

If anyone has any info that would be great

thanks!

    Hello,

I literally just woke up this morning and thought the exact same thing.

Given that I plug my vinyl player out the back of it, and rarely use it for my iPod, it would be nice to do this.

    Though I encountered a problem.

If you put the cover on it, it would be highly difficult to remove it once on there, given that you physically clip it out of there when you are finished using that type of dock connecting cover. So once it's on, it's not coming off easily.

I was about to make one of these using an old dock connector I would use for my current iPods and fashion some sticky tape and white paper underneath until I came to this realisation. I found a connector for the 30-pin jack of an iPhone 4S and lower or an older iPad, but not a cover that goes on top.

Besides making one yourself, and for a product this old - now in it's 7th year - there's very little parts around for it.

I had been looking for the PBC or PBX logic computer board for this to replace inside the iPod Hifi so my iPhones would charge, but they no longer produce them.

Best of luck and if you come up with something, let me know.

    Zane.

I had this same issue so I messaged a designer on Shapeways and he created a blank dock cover for purchase. You can buy it in white or black here: http://shpws.me/Kha8

Awesome! Thank you. Will be ordering this. Do you know, does the white of it match the white of the iPod HiFi at all? Kind of looks a little different, I'm not picky, and will be ordering it, but it'd be nicer if it was the same. #perfectionist.

The one I bought is white. It's a kinda close match on color but definitely not a match on texture. It's fairly rough. I looked into sanding it down a painting it with glossy model paint, but it didn't seem worth the time or money. I used it on the HiFi in the kitchen on top of the fridge so you don't notice it. I think I'm going to buy the black one for the HiFi I have on my bookshelf.
