Q: Iphone 6plus freezing after new update

I have an Iphone 6plus and have updated to the newest software update.

Ever since the update my phone is freezing quite often and I have to lock it and unlock it sometimes 2 or 3 times to be able to navigate on my screen. My screen is not cracked or anything and I have factory reset it once. I have also called apple support and they suggested to factory reset it again. I want to see if anyone else if having this problem and if you know how to fix it.

I have spoken with numerous people who are also having this issue. One of my friends even just switched from Droid to Apple to give it a try and it was having the same issue right out of the box.

Please help I am a huge apple fan but I can not afford to purchase another phone already. I just got this one less then 6 months ago!!!

I have been experiencing the same issue now for a few days.  It has become increasingly worse where freeze-ups would last longer and longer.  This morning, it was completely unresponsive.  As I was searching for a solution on my home PC, it occurred to me that the screen was working intermittently, seemingly indicating a short of some sort, not necessarily a software bug.  So with the Pelican protective case STILL ON my phone, I gently tapped it on a hard surface a couple of time, attempting to re-seed the screen connection.  It worked and my phone is working again.  Not sure if this is a terribly scientific way of going about this fix, but it seems to have worked.  I don't encourage anyone banging on their phone.  But a gentle tap seemed to do the trick.  I will re-post if the problem returns.  But so far, so good.

Are you getting the update over the air to the phone or from iTunes? If over the air, do a clean install, by connecting the phone to the computer through iTunes, and restore to factory, and try to avoid installing any backups from iCloud. Should fix things.

Great info - thanks.  Unfortunately I already traded-in the 6+.  Didn't try the 'tap' method.  Is the tap-fix still working (freezing ceased)?

I've been having the iPhone freezing issues for several updates.  I had other issues with apple and needed to get a brand new phone a few months ago, so this issue persists (I'm on 9.3.4 version).   The core phone functions like the phone and contracts will both freeze with use and I continue to do hard resets all the way up to a factory reset.  I'm sorry I don't have a better resolution.  Unfortunately my confidence in Apple phone products is waining and I'll be considering switching platforms within the next year.

I have restored to factory settings but still having the freezing problem.  I have an appointment with the Genius bar tonight and hopefully they will resolve the issue.

Hi there.... My iPhone 6plus 64 has the same issue. The screen freezes up 2 or 3 times per day. I have to hard reboot to be able to use it. Ive tried a factory reset, nothing seems to work.

    Any other suggestions?

I have the same problem with my iPhone 6 plus too.  my problem just started yesterday.  it will free in the middle while I'm on an app, sometimes jut swiping through the apps and it would lock up.  either reset or give it a few minutes and it will work again.  I noticed that the latest update was in the middle of a download.  it was paused, maybe when i got out of wifi, 4g held it off.  I let the update finished and my phone is still freezing.  every minute to two or 5 minutes.  can't even make a call.  also, i noticed that before my phone freezes, the top of the screen has a few lines flashing off and on.

    need a fix ASAP!!

If your phone freezes next time and you are unable to unlock it or tap on any option then you should reboot your phone by long press lock key and the home key so it will reboot and you will be able to use your phone again!

Not exactly sure why you are responding to me in this thread, as I was not experiencing problems, only providing possible troubleshooting solutions.
