Q: IMAP problems with iCloud and Mail

I have had constant problems with IMAP server connections using Apple Mail. People have been writing on the forums about this since 2013 or earlier and the problem persists.

 

First I thought it was Yahoo since so many community members cited Yahoo IMAP as the problem. But now it seems that Yahoo is fine and all my problems are in my iCloud account.

 

No matter what I do, including deleting my whole account and then resetting it up from scratch, the IMAP server connection hangs and I have a constant warning label. What can I do? This is an apple email client and and Apple cloud server and still there is a problem.

 

Here is the error message:

 

Connections to the server “p29-imap.mail.me.com” on the default ports timed out.

 

The server settings are those that are automatically used when setting up through the Internet Accounts panel in settings.

 

Port 993

Use SSL is checked

Authentication is Apple Token

 

Please help.
