Q: Can I use my Yosemite system to install Snow Leopard on an external hard drive from the original Snow Leopard Install DVD?
I have an old 2006 macbook pro (intel core II duo) 15". I have original Snow Leopard install disks. The system runs fine on that same OS with its original hard drive. It's just out of date, and not fast enough for the specific task I have for it. Someone gave me a Toshiba Solid State drive to test out, which I have installed, partitioned and formatted from the Snow Leopard DVD. My problem is that it runs into an installation error every time I try to install it to the hard drive.
I tried to install it as a firewire drive from another Mac, but that computer won't open the installation because it is running a newer OS (Yosemite).
The laptop currently has no OS on it. Any suggestions?
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6)
