You can use Applications -> iPhoto
You can use Applications -> Photos (if no a new OS X release)
You can use Dropbox photo capture
and I'm sure there are a host of other 3rd party apps that can import your pictures from your iPhone.

Aug 1, 2016 9:48 AM in response to donleafby thecpat,A far less desirable, but available option is hooking it up to a Windows PC. It will show up as a storage device you can browse to through Internet Exploder.
I run VirtualBox and set it up to pass through and copy to a shared drivespace.
