Sep 16, 2015 1:31 AM in response to loftysubby CollisBennet,As Peter suggested, I also recommended you to try MacX Free MKV Video Converter (http://www.macxdvd.com/mkv-video-converter-free/). It not only can convert MKV to MP4, but also accept many other video files as input and convert them to MP4, AVI, MOV, FLV and other popular formats.
Just four steps, you can make the task finished:
1: Download and run MacX Free MKV Video Converter on Mac, click "Add File" button to load the MKV files.
2: Go to "Mac General Video" profile and choose "MP4 video". You can also adjust the video parameters to customize the output video like resolution, frame rate, bit rate, sample rate, etc.
3: Click the "Browse" button to choose the path where you want to save the output files in.
4: After finish the above steps, click the "RUN" button to start converting MKV to MP4 format on Mac.

Mar 25, 2016 10:21 PM in response to givemetwentyby anonomot,I just wanted to thank you for this info! I'm not technically savvy either, and I didn't realize that you can convert the audio without converting the video. It's SO much faster! I had the same problem where the audio format "wasn't supported" on my iPad and converting the entire video with an MKV converter takes AGES. But mp4tools converts the audio super fast! I'm not even sure how I stumbled onto this thread, but I'm glad I did. Thanks again!
