Q: 2011 MacBook Pro

Hello,

Okay, I have a weird situation. Late 2011 I bought a brand new MacBook Pro. I used it for storing lots of photos, wandering Facebook, watching Netflix, and that's about it. In early 2014 it suddenly stopped working. I just a month ago took it in (lots of moving, money stuff). They said it had water damage (Apparently my roommate used it while I was at work and spilled and never told me - fun!)

They said $850 to fix. I considered bc I have lots of photos on there, but I also know a brand new Apple won't be that much more. I found a site online that seems legit (My Green Mac Repair) that fixes water damage for a flat rate of $400.

I want a computer again because I just had a baby and I have to backup this unnecessarily inordinate amount of photos because my phone is about to combust.

Because I barely used the computer before it got wet, it was in great condition and ran amazing. I just don't know, for what I use it for, will it be sufficient and fast enough this many years later. Also, is it going to run well enough to pay the $400 and repair it vs splurge and buy a new one in a month (and lose all my old photos).

Any thoughts or recommendations would be very helpful.

Thanks!

Jackie
