A Google search prefaced by MacScripter or AppleScript, and followed by a question can lead you to online examples and additional tutorials.
AppleScript continues to evolve, and on later releases of OS X, syntax from an older book, or online examples may need tweaking to run properly. Just keep that in mind, as you learn and apply.
This particular community, and others, frequently have user questions resolved with AppleScript, or other languages.
