Q: Macbook Sleeps randomly ?

My Macbook goes to sleep randomly and doesn't wake up even when restarted(The screen remains off) and usually wakes up after day or two. I've researched a lot and the only solution I could find was it's due to magnets around the laptop but I don't even have any kind of magnetic material around my macbook.

Please help me if you know other solution. Otherwise I was thinking of removing magnets or sensors from Display screen(which senses when the laptop is closed.)

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

    Hi there, sami25.

From what I'm understanding, your MacBook on OS X 10.7.5 "sleeps" at random times and doesn't "wake" normally. I'll be glad to help you with this.

Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac -- Since one of the indicators your SMC needs resetting is "The computer sleeps or shuts down unexpectedly", this is a great first step.

Test for a bit to see if that's taken care of the problem. If it hasn't it may be that OS X Lion just needs to be reinstalled. Before you do that, I recommend having a fresh back up to protect your personal data.

Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac -- Time Machine backs up all of your files to an external hard drive so that you can restore them later or see how they looked in the past.

How to reinstall OS X -- After you've opened this article, scroll down to where you read "If you're reinstalling for other reasons". Follow the instructions there and test your Macbook.

Take care and thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

First of all, I'm really sorry I've posted this question in Desktop computers(I've macbook pro(laptop)).

And secondly, I've already reset the SMC and reinstalled MAC OS X 10.7.5. But it still goes to sleep randomly.

No worries at all sami25, thanks for letting me know. Here are the next steps for you to use to test with. Again, test the issue after each step.

Try safe mode if your Mac doesn‘t finish starting up -- Even though your MacBook Pro starts up completely, testing in Safe Mode helps with a lot more.

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac -- This will show you if the problem is system-wide or there's an issue with your account.

Let me know how things go when you're able. Thanks!

Okay, Here are some other things that I forgot to mention. When I start my macbook, no sound is heard.

And When the macbook goes to sleep, I shut it down by pressing the power key. And when I power it on again, the screen shows the progress bar(Resuming progress bar) and it sleeps again. I've removed the battery as well but no success. It's currently in sleep mode and I've to wait till tomorrow for it to wake up . And I've tried the second method before, having other account, but no success. I'll try to run it in safe mode now.

Luckily macbook started. And I've tried to boot it in Safemod.
The macbook completed the safe mod progress bar and then again went to sleep. No success.

    • Note the time of the next unintended sleep. After waking open the Console app in Finder>Applications>Utilities and look for log entries at the time of the sleeps. Post suspicious ones here.

It's now sleeping. And here's the link to updated logs.

I've removed all the Word logs. and the files are pretty readable now.

Use EtreCheck's paste to Clipboard feature and then paste her since what you did did not maintain the formatting which makes the report very hard to read.

Try install the 10,7,5 Combo Update

Download OS X Lion Update 10.7.5 (Client Combo)

The only think the report shows is a battery cycle count of 1157. That is high. I am wondering if the battery is causing the problem.

What run time do yo get a full charge.
