Q: My album will not upload for printing

I have created an album using Photos, but when i order the album the program fails to complete the upload. It either stops at 54% or 103%.

are you trying to order a photo book from Photos or prints of your photos? l'm not sure what you mean by "album for printing"

IF you are trying to order a book, have you created a PDF preview? Is the preview o.k, or does that also hang?

do you have any firewall or antivirus software active, that could be intercepting the connection to Apple?

Yes, I am trying to order a book using Photos. The preview looks fine on screen. There is no firewall or other security interfering with the upLoad. I have previously ordered albums without difficulty. It is driving me crazy. Especially when it amnounces that it is 103% completed, before hanging or undoing the upload and announcing that there has been a problem with contacting the Apple Store....

Check, if there is a problem with your AppleID or credit card information.  You can check that by trying to purchase some free application from the App Store. Does that work?

    • Also check, if you are ordering from the Print Products Store for the right country:  Check the Photos < Preference > General: Print products Store.
    • Enter all settings again in the menu entry:  Photos > Print Product Store Account.

In some cases it helped to order the book after booting the Mac into Safe Mode.  That will disable all non-standard system extensions:  See this link:   Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode

Hi. Thanks for all the suggestions. Everything seems to be in order so i dont undertsand why there is a sudden problem. I had no problem buying a book in May. Same program, computer, connection, etc. I will perhaps try safe mode but that seems an unreasonable strategy for use with Photos. In australia we refer to this as "unfit for purpose". Unfortnuately, impossible to find anyone able to handle the problem.

But did you install any new applications since then?  Sometimes new applications will install kernel extensions, that stop other applications from working properly. Safe mode will disable all third party extensions, so you can check, if it is something you installed and forgot about that is interfering. If you enabled two-step verification for your AppleID it can also be causing such problems.

Another common problem is, that the credit card that is on file for your appleID may have an expired date and need updating. This will happen every three years, but you will notice it only when you try to purchase from the AppStore. Have you tested if you can purchase with your AppleID at all?
