Q: Want to export project to slide show

It seems as if I cannot export my photo album project into a slide show in Photos, as I used to do in iPhoto. Anyone has a solution to this problem?

    photo album project

Do you mean you created a Photo Book?

There is no way to create a slideshow from a book project directly in Photos.

You could however save your book as a PDF file and then export the pages of the PDF file as JPEG images.

Now import the JPEGs as new photos to Photos, make an album from them,  and show them as a slideshow.

Take a look at this Photos tutorial: Creating an iDVD Slideshow From a Photos Library Book. Follow only the first section of the tutorial, Converting the PDF File.  That will get you a jpeg image of each page of the book to be imported back into the library and use in a slideshow.

Thank you Old Toad, I have now managed to create an PDF file and than imported each side back to Photos - and created my slideshow. However, it was so much more work than before (in iPhoto), cannot understand why they have made it so complicated? Anyway, thank you for your help!

It will be easier, if you start the work on a book from an album that has only the photos you are using in your book, in the correct order. Then you can use this album to create both items from it, the book and the slideshow.

Slideshows and books are fully automatic in Photos.  We cannot do much to tweak the layout of the pages in a book or the layout of slides in a slideshow. There is no way to adjust the size of photo boxes or text fields. Most of the work is the selection of the photos, and you can save this work by creating first an album with the selected photos.

Hi Léonie, I understand what you are saying but it is not the photos as such I would like to have in my slideshow, it is the pages in my photo book (with the comments I have written). I would not have thought much about it if I didn't have my old slideshows from iPhoto, which was extremely easy to make. In my view the program has degenerated (from iPhoto to Photos) in that perspective. But, my problem has been solved and I am happy about it. Just took me a couple of hours now...

I understand that. I find the comments in a photo book too small for a slideshow anyway.

What I am doing now after switching to Photos is to create the book in Keynote. I can save the Keynote slides as a PDF file to view on my iPad and  present the slideshow directly from Keynote.
