Q: I can't transfer Apple Music to iPod Nano

I started Apple Music trial, and I added some songs to My Music library, when I connect my iPod Nano 7g and try to sync. It says that song was not copied to the iPod because it is a subscription item.

It is supposed that I can play them offline, right?

iPod nano, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4), null

So you can only use Apple Music on an iPhone? (am slightly confused...) Thanks.

No, you can also use it on iPads, Mac computers, iPod Touches and Android phones.

Agreed! It clearly says "Get the Apple Music experience on all your devices".  It doesn't say "Get the Apple Music experience on all your devices, except for some of the Apple devices we make ourselves like the iPod and iShuffle"

We must have been through this several times - I'm not going to read 180 answers to find out. You cannot use Apple Music on an iPod other than the Touch because it requires an internet connection which they don't have. If you feel that their advertising is misleading you will have to take it up with them or with any regulatory authority you may have in your region.

With all due respect, you are wrong. Of course, it needs Internet access but it does not require constant Internet access.  I've had devices that use the Rhapsody that don't inherently have internet access.  You connect device to your computer, the DRM updates on the device for 30/60 days, the DRM expires in that timeframe and you can't play the song until you connect the device again to update the entitlements.  Each time you connect the device, it adds 30/60 days to the allowable play time.

Why can't Apple do that for the iPod/iShuffle devices?

Apple don't explain their reasoning to us - you would have to ask them.

Why don't you tell them what they can do, here

Perhaps.  I know I'm being unreasonable to ask that I use their music subscription with their music devices but I'm a demanding customer (who, btw, just switched from the Android ecosystem to the Apple ecosystem

Did you mean eco system when you said echo system, otherwise it doesn't make sense.

My point, (beyond why are people still going on about this?), is that no one here would know and Apple is under no particular obligation to explain anything to you. If you don't like the way it works, submit feedback and don't subscribe. Continue to use your Nano/Shuffle/iPod Classic in the way they were designed to be used.

Got it. For what it's worth, I submitted my comments to Apple. Thanks.

Thank you for the textbook answer. The lack of sincerity and concern for customer satisfaction is evident, and not what I expect from Apple, Inc.

The point is being completely missed. This is Apple's problem to sort out, not the end user. Apple is moving to a large volume of subscription based downloads, then they should be available on all devices.

All devices have to be plugged back in to a computer at some point, any subscription items could be removed then- I should think. But I'm a social scientist, not a techie.

I am considering cancelling my subscription service and just purchasing ala carte to ensure I have the flexibility I deserve. I should not have to pay for the subscription AND the song in order to get it on a device I use daily (iPod Shuffle).

As IT geniuses leading the tech world, I expect better from Apple. As a 20 year Apple product consumer, I certainly expect better customer service. And the gentleman is correct; fix your graphic AND the problem, and stop hiding behind what's been written in the fine print!

Then certainly you have the option to cancel your subscription, and maybe you should.
