Aug 4, 2016 9:07 AM in response to OliviaPaige19by Demo,I'm a little confused by the request to enter the password to the old ID? Did you change your password as well as the ID? If you did, were you required to do that? I have never had the need to change my ID, but I have changed my password, although that was years ago.
What happens if you enter the password for the old ID?

Aug 4, 2016 9:22 AM in response to Demoby OliviaPaige19,yeah, me too.
Everything else on the phone seems to recognize the new apple id (for the most part)
To answer the second question, yes I did. i wasn't required to change it, but felt that it was time to update the password as well.
When I try to enter the password for the old ID, it says the account for the old id doesn't exist.
Settings> Messages> "Apple ID Verification" "Enter the password for 'old apple ID' in Settings.
*taps on settings* *prompts up "Apple ID Password" (still for the old apple ID)
*types in password* "old Apple ID is not an Apple ID"
(okayy? and I close out)
but then whenever I'm at:
Settings> Messages> Send & Receive > "Use you Apple ID for iMessage"
"New/Current Apple ID is Already Signed In"
I try to "Add An Email"
and when I manually type out the current Apple ID and password I'm prompted with "iMessage server is unavailable"

Aug 4, 2016 9:32 AM in response to OliviaPaige19by Demo,I Don't have a lot of confidence in this but it won't hurt to check. Go to Settings>General>Date & Time>Set Automatically>On. Check to be sure that your time zone is also correct.

Aug 4, 2016 9:46 AM in response to Demoby OliviaPaige19,No, still wasn't able to push through the activation, which is weird because I can see that iMessage is working because my text bubbles are still blue rather than green and i'm not using wifi.
i don't know, whats going on. I'll just leave it.
shouldn't have messed with it in the first place.

Aug 4, 2016 11:08 AM in response to OliviaPaige19by Demo,You didn't mess with it, you changed your Apple ID and you did what you are supposed to do. Don't give up. Let me see if I can get some help from some other higher level members.
I will put out a bat call for help.

Aug 4, 2016 11:20 AM in response to OliviaPaige19by elcpu,IMO changing an Apple ID is a pain as it has to be changed in multiple places on every device you own. Just on the remote chance that you have not done this, try going to the following locations, sign out of all of them and then sign back in with the new one:
iCloud, iTunes & App Store, Messages, FaceTime, and Game Center if you use it.
