Q: Apple watch pairing failed

I am trying to pair my Apple Watch.  It failed everytime I tried to do it by holding the watch up to the iphone's camera so I tried to pair it manually.  I get the 5 digit name of the computer and can see that on that phone.  When I click on it on the iphone it tells me that a 6 digit number will show up on the Apple Watch.  It never shows up so I can't enter it so the pairing fails.  Any suggestions?

The 9.3.4 update is available for your iPhone.  Tap Settings > General > Software Update

After the update is installed, then follow the instructions here >   Set up your Apple Watch - Apple Support

    Hi Diane

Check your watch's status, both according to your watch and according to your iPhone. For example:

    Watch

If your watch is still operational, it is just disconnected, but not unpaired from your iPhone (although your iPhone may believe differently).

If it is only disconnected, you will still have access to the watch face and other functions, but a disconnected status icon will be shown at the top of the watch face when viewing the time:

    disconnected.gif

If it is unpaired, it will ask you to choose a language when you restart it / turn it on.

    iPhone

In the Watch app, go to: My Watch:

    - If your watch is shown at the top of the My Watch screen, then it is still paired (although your watch may believe differently).

    - If it still paired (according to your iPhone), you will be able to tap on your watch description and then tap on the "i" icon next to your watch on the next screen - the next screen will state "Paired" above the watch's name.

If your iPhone believes that your watch is unpaired, but your watch is only disconnected:

    • On your watch: go to the Home screen (via a single press of the Digital Crown) > Settings (cog icon) > General > Reset > Erase all Content and Settings.
    • Then re-pair it using the Watch app on your iPhone, choosing to Restore from Backup if the option is offered:
    • Set up your Apple Watch - Apple Support
