Jun 25, 2016 3:32 AM in response to patrickfromnewbridgeby Zacplummer ,As a person who a person who fixes many iPhone's through a 3rd party company, I see this problem quite a lot. There is 3 big ways to fix this.
1. Clean out clean the headphones jack. This can be done by taking some fluff of the end of a q-tip and swabbing around.
2. Plug and unplug 6-7 times and hard reboot your phone (hold the power and home buttons until the apple logo shows up).
3. If the problem still persists your headphones jack might be damaged internally. If that is the case you will need to replace the docks cable. I recommend looking online for a local company that does apple repairs to replace the part.
I hope that fixes your problem.

Jul 23, 2016 6:21 PM in response to patrickfromnewbridgeby CAWeinmann,Tried most of the methods until I had to make dinner so I put it in airplane mode (even though I didn't think it would work). I also connected it to a Bluetooth speaker and played music. When I got done it had corrected itself.

Aug 4, 2016 5:41 PM in response to AGBDYM62998by Circle Yuen,I placed my mouth on the headphone jack and sucked air as hard as possible, twice, it went back to ringer mode. Yes, it felt pretty silly, but it WORKED!

Aug 12, 2016 8:18 PM in response to patrickfromnewbridgeby Abigsoxfan,Tried many of the solutions here to no avail. Picked up my Bose W-Fi wireless earphones, connected to my iPhone. Plugged and unplugged my wired earphones a couple of times. Turned off the Wi-Fi on my phone an lo and behold I was out of Headphone mode. Very frustrating, but I got it going again.

Aug 14, 2016 1:38 PM in response to patrickfromnewbridgeby ForestJGump,i had the same issue. All these answers I tried. My iPhone went into the tub while bathing my son. Maybe 1-2 seconds. Nothing to bad except the headphones saying plugged in while they weren't. Read all the answers yet none worked. But once I made a call then put it on speaker that's what did the trick for me. Hope this helps somebody out!
