Q: Lost Airplay with Airport 7.7.7. update

I have a New Airport Extreme attached to my Internet provider modem. This is connected to a Mac Pro via ethernet. The Mac Pro is wired to my home hifi system.

This used to work with Airplay. I could select the Mac Pro and play music through it and the hifi system. Since I updated my firmware on my extreme I can no longer see or connect to this computer on airplay.

I also have a airport express connected to another set of speakers in another part of the house. This was also updated but I can still see and use this connection.

Can anyone help? I've tried switching the Mac Pro to the same wireless network the express is on and I still can't see the Mac Pro.

thanks

Lee

    Hello Leeman64,

    Welcome to Apple support Communities.

It sounds like there's an issue using AirPlay to stream content to specific AirPlay-enabled speakers on your home network. The article below provides a lot of great information and troubleshooting tips that should help you resolve this issue.

    Cheers.

This is a worthless suggestion.  What is CLEARLY happening here to this guy - and myself - has nothing to do with NOT knowing how Airplay works, so citing this page is wasted effort.  I have the same problem - ever since 7.7.7 my four Airplay speakers don't play or stay connected.  It is the 7.7.7 update that baked things after working near-perfectly for over three years, and NOT that I don't know how to select an Airplay speaker.

And now it seems that Apple has pulled the previous firmware from distribution so I can't even roll back my Time Capsule, so thanks to Apple's own updates I have $600 worth of speakers that are sitting on shelves, completely useless and there is NO help from the help pages.
