Q: Photos in Windows File Explorer

When I connect my iPhone to a Windows 10 PC, and I want to sort through my photos using Windows File Explorer, all of the folders are dated exactly the same and there isn't a way to filter or sort through them because of this.

Also there are currently 466 folders, and many of them only have 1 photo file inside.

My two questions are:

Is there a way to sort or filter through the file folders on Windows 10?

Is there a way that I can clean up this mess of folders? Or is there a way of knowing why it might have done this?

Try importing the photos to the computer first. Connect the iPhone to the PC, open File Explorer and the iPhone will show up as a device.  On a W10 computer right click on the iPhone and select Import. Then follow the prompts.

    This may help.

This is helpful, however the Windows 10 PC that I'm using isn't mine, it's a work computer and I don't need everything synced to that PC, I just want to find the particular photos that I need for the job. Theoretically I should just be able to sort by date, and find the most recent folder and the photos should just be in there...

I suspect that there is something wrong with the iPhone file structure. Normally the iPhone creates new DCIM folders after each month I believe, don't know why you have so many but if you were to delete all the photos from the phone, the process should reset.

You could import as I suggested above. At the prompt you will be asked where to put the photos and you could create or select one folder on your PC. They should all appear there (they do on mine). Then sort as you wish and when through delete all photos so nothing stays on your work PC.
