Q: iPhone trade-up

I'm looking to upgrade from an iPhone 5S to an iPhone SE and wanted to take advantage of Apple's in-store trade-up program.

Prior to going to the store, I'm fairly certain I should back-up all of my data to my PC or iCloud. However, do I need to do a factory reset or will the Apple Store folks do this for me?

Only you know your Apple ID and password that are needed to do a full factory reset. You will need to do that.

Ideally I would suggest making both an iCloud and an iTunes backup for redundancy. Then yes, you should erase all content and settings to clear any and all personal data from the device before selling it or trading it in. But first, before doing that sign out of iCloud and iMessage (iCloud to disable find my iPhone and iMessage to disassociate that specific device from your phone number).

I want to just have to make one trip to the store and walk out with the product, ensuring that I've done everything necessary before handing the device over.

Thanks for the link and information...best way to go forward is to just do everything myself and know that I've done what was necessary without having to rely on someone else to make sure that it occurs.
