Q: Macbook turns on, then immediately turns off

SMC does nothing, NVRAM just causes the Macbook to restart but then it turns off again. Initially the Macbook would start up, but the display would flicker on and off. It would show the screen, then go black for 2 minutes, then come back on again. Did that a couple times, turned it off, and now it just chimes and shuts down. Very strange.

No Kernel Panic, and I can't even do an Apple Hardware test. The computer won't stay on longer than the chime, it just immediately shuts off.

Update: so the computer is in fact on, just not showing that it's on. It works through another monitor (my TV through an HDMI) and I can see the screen if a light is shown through the apple symbol the back but there is no backlight.
