Q: 4th Gen Apple TV Plays Music Playlists but not Albums

Hi! I'm having only one problem with my 4th Generation Apple TV. As an iTunes Match customer, I stream music to all my devices. On my AppleTV, which is signed into my iTunes account, I can easily play music from any of the playlists I've made, but if I go into an album and try to play songs from that, it never plays. This is all music I've paid for and own, and the same song will work fine if I play it from a playlist. If I go into an album... no luck. I was, at one time, an Apple Music subscriber and that worked fine to play from albums, but I haven't been able to get it to work (again, these are all songs I've purchased) since then.

This problem has been going on for a couple months. I do not have this problem on my iPhone or MacBook; just the Apple TV.

Things I have tried:

- Update AppleTV to latest version.

- Sign out of iTunes, sign back in

- Full reset of AppleTV to factory state, re-did everything.

Anyone have any experience with this, know of a way to fix this?

Thanks in advance!

Tom

    Hello theexiter,

Thanks for asking your question here in the Apple Support Communities. Seems you are able to play your music from playlists in iTunes Match, but not if you select the music from your Apple TV going directly to the albums. This may be caused because of the way you are syncing the music across your devices.

I recommend first checking this article to ensure you have Home Sharing configured properly on your computer, and Apple TV. Apple TV manual Home Sharing. It may be best to disable Home Sharing on the computer and Apple TV, and re-set it all up.

If you still have issues, please check this help article. Specifically the last section about Apple TV and choosing the library. Use Home Sharing to share iTunes content with other devices. Make sure you choose the correct library. If the issue is occurring with the library you selected, try the steps and choose another library.

The last thing I recommend to try is to check this help article: Apple TV manual iCloud Music Library. If you have iCloud Music Library enabled, turn off Home Sharing and try only using iCloud Music Library. It may be the reason you are experiencing issues with only the albums because of a conflict between the two sync options for your music.

Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.
